BOB HALPIN, PRESIDENT

Bob Halpin became the President of the Newton Needham Chamber of Commerce in May of 2011.  His extensive executive experience in local government and regional economic development in Massachusetts has established a track record of leading diverse stakeholders and organizations within communities to achieve broad, bold visions. He draws on that knowledge and experience to create effective, innovative partnerships.

He served as the first President/CEO of the Merrimack Valley Economic Development Council, created in 1999, to promote a more collaborative and cooperative approach to economic development across the 24 communities in the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts.  During this time he was instrumental in creating partnerships between communities and between public and private sector leaders to advance important regional projects.  For instance, the Interstate 93 Tri-town Interchange project serving the Towns of Andover, Tewksbury and Wilmington and enabling the further industrial expansion of major employers in the region. He is also a former Town Manager in the Towns of Westford and North Andover, MA and held similar positions in the communities of Pepperell and Gardner, MA.  Contact him: rhalpin@nnchamber.com
